Visiting our hospitals

31st January, 2023 in News

In most areas, including the Outpatient Department, two people over the age of 12 years can visit a patient at a time.
Due to space constraints and the need to maintain physical distancing, only one parent/carer can accompany a patient in certain signposted areas.
Siblings under the age of 12 years are unable to visit.
Where space permits, siblings of long stay patients (more than nine days in hospital) are encouraged to visit at a time pre-arranged with the ward’s nurse leader.
Keeping families connected is important to us. We encourage virtual visits using platforms like Facetime or WhatsApp. If you need access to a tablet for video conferencing, please speak to a member of your child’s health care team.

Additional mask advice

It is mandatory for people over 12 years of age to wear a face mask at all times, except when eating, drinking or sleeping.
We strongly recommend children over 5 years of age wear a child-sized mask, if they are comfortable.
To protect our staff and other families and patients, mask exemption letters will not be accepted and entry to our facilities will not be possible.
Please bring your own mask if possible. If you don't have a mask, we will provide one for you. Child-sized masks are available at our hospital entrances.
Face mask-wearing guidelines are available on the NSW Government website.

Returning travellers

Returning travellers are no longer required to avoid high-risk settings. See NSW Health guidelines here.

Full Conditions of Entry

In line with public health orders and hospital guidelines:

In most areas, two people over the age of 12 years can accompany a patient at a time
Face masks must be worn at all times (if over 12 years of age). Masks are strongly recommended for children over five years of age (where appropriate)
Filming, photography or audio recordings of others is not permitted
Restrictions still apply for high risk settings such as hospitals. It’s important we avoid spreading infections to others, particularly our vulnerable patients and families. COVID positive parents/carers should not enter the hospital for 7 days after cold or flu symptoms, or contact with COVID-19.
Do not hesitate to discuss any questions or concerns you have directly with your child’s health care team.
